To all to whom these presents shall come: Proclamation in pdf format
WHEREAS, Paducah, Kentucky, is the national headquarters for the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians represents more than 3,400 interventional pain professionals around the country, and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians works to promote the development and practice of safe, high quality, cost-effective interventional pain management techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of pain and related disorders, and to ensure patient access to these interventions, and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians has worked with state and federal officials to promote and protect the specialty of interventional pain management, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ 09 designation for interventional pain management physicians and their representation on state Carrier Advisory Committees for local coverage decisions, and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, as part of its mission, worked through three sessions of Congress for the passage of the National All Schedules Prescription Electronic Reporting (NASPER) Act to stop “doctor shopping” and drug diversion, and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians celebrates the July 2005 approval in Congress and the Aug. 11, 2005, signing into law by President George W. Bush of the NASPER legislation, and
WHEREAS, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians is the first physicians’ organization, according to Congressional sources, to get major legislation through both houses of Congress and signed by the President,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ERNIE FLETCHER, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, do hereby proclaim September 8, 2005, as ASIPP Day in Kentucky.
